Thursday 10th September 2009
Just a quick note about a terrific gig last weekend at the White Swan in Trowbridge – a proper music pub, where the jukebox is loud and people actually want to hear you play. We loaded the set with more covers than usual, but they seemed to like the original stuff too. It was one of those magical nights where they dig what you do and ask for more, several times.
And we need to give real, deep, heartfelt thanks to Bev, who hadn’t been able to come to the last few rehearsals for reasons which would put most people out of the frame for some time – but she gave her brilliant all, as she always does.
Tomorrow we’re back at one of our favourite venues, the George in Bradford-on-Avon, a lovely end to the week. Last time we were there, they said don’t bother with other people’s songs, we want to hear yours. How cool is that?
Not too many more gigs this year, though of course we’re very excited about another visit to Frome’s majestic Cheese and Grain in October to support John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett (of ‘Cor Baby, That’s Really Free’ fame), but I’m really looking forward to getting the chance to stretch our musical limbs and add some new material to the set. There are plenty of new songs on the blocks, and lots of ideas for new stuff waiting to be worked on.
Hey ho, let’s go!
